Lyle E. Lantz

Lantz, 92, of Galesburg, IL, passed away at 4:55 p.m., Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Heartland Health Care Center, Galesburg, IL.He was born July 23, 1925 in Adair, Il the son of Harry E. and Marie (Helmers) Lantz.  Lyle was raised and educated in Adair, graduating from Adair High School in 1942.  Lyle served as a Corporal with United States Army during World War II, serving in Italy.Lyle married Isabelle Solomon in Adair, IL on November 23, 1943 and she passed away August 1987.  He later had a 34 year relationship with his dear companion, Carol Barnfield until she died in September 2009.Lyle was a farmer and cattleman in rural Warren County his entire life where he raised lots of cattle selling the last of his stock in December 2016.He loved attending livestock auctions in many states, dancing and playing golf. He enjoyed attending local high school sporting events and the University of Illinois games.  He loved being around his family and many friends.Lyle’s family would like to extend their deep appreciation and gratitude to Heartland Health Care Center for the care that their father received.Survivors include his children, Linda (Dale) Anderson of Mt. Vernon, IL, Joyce (Dennis) Higgins of Alexis, IL, Jerry (Marlene) Sorrenberger of Kewanee, IL and Mike (Peggy) Shepard of Lakeland, FL; his grandchildren, Steve (Olive) Murphy, Jason (Kryl Holden) Murphy, Clint (Jessica) Murphy, Quintin (Colleen ) Anderson, Maye-Marie (Tim Bryant) Anderson, Wendi (Dustin) Steck, Jeremy (Kristen) Higgins, Nate (Jenny) Higgins and Allison (Brian) Bernhardt; 20 great grandchildren; his sister, Eleanor Olson of Macomb, IL; sister in Law, Frances Lantz of Adair, IL; along with several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Duane Lantz; sister, Francis Ann Olson; brothers in law, Bill Olson and Gene Olson; nephew, Kenny Lantz.Funeral services will be 11:00 am Friday, September 8, 2017 at McGuire and Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth.  Interment with Military Honors will be in Galesburg Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg.  Visitation w... Patricia Norman-Erickson-Martin

Services will be Wednesday, August 30th, at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 2201 – 7th Avenue, Moline, with a two-hour visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until service time. A graveside service will then be held, at 3 p.m. in Galesburg Memorial Park Cemetery in Galesburg, Illinois.Memorials may be made to the P.E.O. Scholarship Fund.Patricia Norman was born June 24, 1928, in Winamac, Indiana, daughter of John F. and Dorthea (Hilton) Norman, who also had a son, David Norman. On July 29, 1956, in Galesburg, she married John Erickson, who preceded her in death in 1987. She then married John Martin in 1992, in Moline, and he died in 2009.She taught grade school children for many years until she retired from teaching to become a full-time mother. She was a member of First Congregational Church, and Chapter H.B. of P.E.O in Moline. Patricia enjoyed flower gardening, genealogy, and interacting in her church and with her neighbors. She especially loved being with her grandchildren.Survivors include her daughters, Nancy H. (Jose Rodriguez) Erickson, and Marie J. (Bill) Gibbs; and grandchildren, Amanda and Eric Gibbs, and Nicholas and Alexander Rodriguez.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands. (Quad City Times)
